Project Description
This is a personal project split into two parts. In this part I create and brand my own comic book company. The final deliverable of this part of the project is a brand guide of the company that includes: A brand statement, the isolated word marks, an inspiration board, typography rules, color rules, logo mockups.
Research and Inspiration
To start the project a name and theme for the company were chosen. Super Saga was chosen for the name, and Fantasy combined with Superhero was chosen as the theme. After that, gathered several inspiration photos were gatheres and research on several important demographic points for the company was started.
Fantasy Research
- Main age range of 18–35
- Balanced Gender interest, leans more male
- Value Imaginative and complex stories
- Enjoys escapism through world building
Super Hero Research
- Main age range of 18–35
- Mostly male dominated
- Mainstream values
- morally black and white story telling.
- Enjoys action packed stories
- Can have some traditional fantasy elements
Sketching
After doing some light research on the typical super hero and fantasy design elements, several iterations and ideations of a wordmark/logo were made in order to keep in line with the main themes of the company. Several practical aplications of the logos and wordmarks were also considered when sketching (Like vertical vs horizontal format)
Color Pallet
After narrowing down a logo and 2 variations of a word mark(horizontal and vertical), ideation and experimentation with color began.
Typeface Ideation
After finalizing the logos, several type faces were tested before two final typefaces were chosen
Type and Color Rules
After narrowing down the type face, usage rules the typefaces and already chosen color pallet that align with the general brand theme and message.
Last Steps
After the main designs were finished and the design rules were established, the final parts of the brand guide were made. This section went by fairly quickly due to the extensive brand centered thinking of the design process.

Story Writing and Character Designs
Project Description
The goal of this part of the project is two create a general story outline and two character designs that fit the theme and brand of Super Saga.
Story Draft
Using the general framework of the hero's journey, a general story draft was created that also included 2 fairly in-depth character description drafts.
Sketching
Began sketching character designs for the story. After sketches are finished two character designs are chosen and finalized for the final deliverable, along with the final draft of the story.
